Pulpwood Harvesting.
MCL is the largest pulpwood harvesting and forestry access road construction contractor in Newfoundland. The company harvests approximately 120,000m3 of pulpwood and sawlogs, builds about 30 kilometres of forest access road, and constructs up to three forest access bridges annually.
Our Logging Performance.
Forestry shaped the identity of the Major’s family for generations, our original company name was Major’s Logging Limited. MCL is the Corner Brook mill’s largest supplier of hog fuel producing approximately 50,000 tonnes per year with a grinder operating in Deer Lake.
Major’s is always a top performer and has been recognized as Contractor of the year by Corner Brook Pulp and Paper in 2009, 2011, 2012 and 2017.
Environmental Stewardship.
Being heavily involved in the Province’s forest sector, the company is keenly aware of the need to operate and to manage all its activities in a manner which is sensitive to the environment around us.
Majors operates to guidelines that meet the ISO 14001 Environmental Management System Standard, the CSA Z809 Sustainable Forest Management Standard, and the Forest Stewardship Council’s (FSC) Boreal Forest Standard.
